Chrome To Stop Working On About 32 Million Android DevicesOctober 10, 2018
- Google Chrome is one of the most secured and fast Android browser. It had won the most popular browsers due to its security and other powerful features. But unfortunately, the browser will no longer support later versions of Android. That is, if you are still using Android 4.1 Jellybean operating system, very soon you won’t be able to use Google Chrome on your Android device.
According to an information reaching to us from XDA developers, after digging through the most recent version of Chrome app, they discovered some issues which made us to believe that sooner or later, Android devices running Android 4.1, 4.2, and 4.3 would no longer be supported by Chrome browser.
Based on Android’s distribution numbers, there are currently about 32 million Android devices still running on Jellybean. Meaning 3.2% of Android devices are still on a version of Jellybean out of over 1 billion Android devices.
Google Chrome browser can be installed from Google playstore on Android 4.1 and above at the moment. It is always advisable for OEM’s to always release updates required for an upgrade on their devices.
There’s no timeline given yet when Google is going to shut down the use of Chrome on Android Jellybean devices, but to me, I think it might be sooner than expected.
